Microsoft Launches Agent 365 for $15 Per User to Secure Enterprise AI Agents

Microsoft will launch Agent 365 on May 1, 2026, as a control plane designed to give IT, security and business teams centralized visibility and governance over AI agents deployed across enterprises. The service costs $15 per user per month.

The launch comes as 80% of Fortune 500 companies already use AI agents, according to Microsoft. In just two months, tens of millions of agents have appeared in the Agent 365 Registry. Microsoft has visibility into more than 500,000 agents across its own company, with the most widely used focused on research, coding, sales intelligence, customer triage and HR self-service.

Microsoft Security helps protect 1.6 million customers, one billion identities, and 24 billion Copilot interactions. The company recently delivered its strongest quarter with Copilot, with paid seats growing more than 160% year over year and daily active usage up ten times.

Security Threat Landscape Drives Demand

The 2026 Secure Access report found 97% of organizations experienced an identity or network access incident in the past year. Seventy percent reported incidents tied to AI-related activity.

“Never before was language itself an attack surface,” Microsoft stated in its announcement. “The semantic and non-deterministic character of large language models means adversaries no longer need to craft a malformed packet or inject a SQL string.”

Aaron Reich, Chief Technology and Information Officer at Avanade, said his company runs Agent 365 in production. “This significantly reduces operational and security risk, represents a critical step forward in operationalizing the agent lifecycle at scale,” Reich said.

New Security Capabilities Launch This Month

Several security features will become generally available March 31, 2026. These include prompt injection protection through Entra Internet Access, designed to protect against malicious AI prompts using network-level policies across applications and agents.

The new features allow organizations to block sensitive information, such as personally identifiable information and credit card numbers, from being processed in prompts. Entra Internet Access Shadow AI Detection will also become available March 31.

Customizable data security reports are set to arrive in preview March 31. Purview embedded in the Copilot Control System will provide a view of AI-related data risk inside the Microsoft 365 Admin Center in April.

Microsoft Packages Agent 365 in E7 Suite

Microsoft is packaging Agent 365 into Microsoft 365 E7: The Frontier Suite along with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft Entra Suite and Microsoft 365 E5. The E7 suite will be available for purchase on May 1, 2026, at $99 per user per month.

Microsoft says E7 is priced below purchasing these capabilities separately, giving customers a more cost-effective way to deploy enterprise AI at scale.

The announcements were made ahead of the annual RSAC Conference in San Francisco, where approximately 40% of the 450-plus sessions across four days focus on AI topics.
