Quick Facts

  • Supabase raised $500M Series F led by GIC at a $10.5B valuation, doubling from its last round
  • AI coding tools like Claude Code now generate the majority of databases on the platform
  • Company saw 600% year-over-year database growth and user base more than doubled since Series E

Supabase closed a $500 million Series F funding round at a $10.5 billion post-money valuation, led by Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund GIC. The round brings the PostgreSQL backend platform’s total funding to over $1 billion.

The funding comes as AI coding tools drive explosive growth for the company. CEO Paul Copplestone revealed that Claude Code is now the largest contributor to new databases since the start of 2026.

“Demand for Supabase is exploding,” Copplestone said. “Our user base has more than doubled since the Series E and we’ve seen a 600% increase in databases year over year. Agents are now deploying the majority of databases on our platform.”

The company now serves more than 250,000 users globally and has grown its staff to over 350 employees. Supabase for Platforms saw a 370% increase in customers over the past six months.

Accel Partner Arun Mathew called Supabase’s growth rate “phenomenal” compared to other database startups. “We haven’t seen a company grow at this pace, certainly in the database layer, ever before,” he said.

Supabase’s market share in the backend-as-a-service sector climbed from 12% in 2025 to 28% in Q1 2026, while Firebase’s new signups slowed by 15% year-over-year. The company has amassed over 1.2 million active developer users, a 300% increase from 2025.

The funding announcement coincides with Supabase’s launch of Multigres, an open-source horizontal scaling layer for PostgreSQL. The tool addresses a key market gap where teams outgrowing a single Postgres instance typically must migrate to different database systems.

Copplestone told CNBC the new tool will help companies “scale up to the size of OpenAI” or potentially bigger. Multigres provides sharding, zero-downtime migrations, and high availability to the Postgres ecosystem under the Apache 2.0 license.

Existing investors Accel, Y Combinator, Craft, Felicis, Peak XV, and Coatue participated in the round alongside new investors Stripe and Salesforce Ventures. The company plans to use the capital for growth, employee liquidity, and accelerating open-source Postgres tools development.

Supabase serves as backend infrastructure for AI-native applications and positions itself as the leader in agentic infrastructure. The platform includes PostgreSQL database, authentication, storage, edge functions, real-time subscriptions, and vector search capabilities.
