Quick Facts

  • SAP reported Q3 2026 revenue of €10.27 billion, the first time the company has crossed the €10 billion quarterly mark.
  • Cloud revenue rose 25% to €6.67 billion, while the cloud backlog grew 26% to €24.11 billion, ahead of analyst forecasts.
  • AI and Business Data Cloud appeared in 9 of SAP's 10 largest deals in the quarter, according to CEO Christian Klein.

SAP posted its strongest quarterly results in company history, crossing the €10 billion revenue threshold for the first time and raising its full-year cloud revenue forecast to the high end of its target range, according to the company's Q3 2026 earnings report.

Total revenue for the third quarter reached €10.27 billion. Non-IFRS earnings per share came in at €1.89, beating analyst estimates of €1.83. Non-IFRS operating profit rose 18% year over year to €3.03 billion. Free cash flow totaled €1.7 billion.

Cloud Growth Leads Every Region

Cloud ERP suite revenue grew 28% and made up 89% of total cloud revenue. The cloud backlog reached €24.11 billion, a 26% increase that outpaced the 24% to 25% growth that analysts had projected, based on SAP's official results announcement.

EMEA posted 28% cloud revenue growth at constant currency, led by France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The Americas region grew 21%, with strength in Brazil and the United States. Asia Pacific Japan grew 28%, driven by India and South Korea.

CFO Dominik Asam called the milestone significant. "For the first time, SAP crossed €10 billion in total quarterly revenue and €3 billion of non-IFRS operating profit, reflecting the strength and scalability of our business model," he said.

The Autonomous Enterprise Push

CEO Christian Klein framed the results as validation of a strategy the company unveiled in May at its Sapphire customer conference. "Q3 was an outstanding quarter. We brought the autonomous enterprise to life," Klein said on the earnings call. "Our strategy is not just resonating, it is being adopted."

SAP's autonomous enterprise approach rests on two main elements. The first is the SAP Business AI Platform, which unifies its Business Technology Platform, Business Data Cloud, and Business AI into a single environment. The second is Joule, an AI agent layer that connects to more than 70 AI models and operates across SAP applications.

Klein described Joule Work as a "workbench for the autonomous enterprise" running 400 assistants and 3,000 agents across SAP's software suite. The company's knowledge graph maps more than 7 million fields and 500,000 tables, which SAP says allows Joule to handle complex tasks with greater accuracy.

SAP has also recast Joule as the primary entry point for enterprise AI, positioning it as a conversational interface that works alongside rather than inside SAP applications.

SAP Uses Its Own Tools

Klein pointed to SAP's internal AI adoption as a proof point for the strategy. The company's 40,000 developers completed roughly 70% more code contributions since the start of the year. More than 110,000 SAP employees now use Joule Work Desktop, with over 90% reporting positive results.

SAP reported up to 80% time reduction in customer research and preparation, and productivity gains of 20% across central functions including finance, HR, and procurement. Klein said SAP expects up to €3 billion in efficiency gains over the next two years from AI applications spanning engineering, sales, finance, HR, and cloud operations.

Guidance Moves Higher

SAP narrowed its full-year 2026 guidance toward the upper end of prior ranges. The company now expects cloud revenue at the high end of its €25.8 billion to €26.2 billion target at constant currencies, while holding its non-IFRS operating profit projection at €11.8 billion to €12.2 billion.

KeyBanc Capital Markets analysts raised their price target on SAP shares to €235 following the results, saying the company "kicked off our earnings season with much better cloud bookings and revenue than we'd expected" and called the performance a potential indicator for the broader sector.
