Salesforce Inc. has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Listen Labs Inc., an AI-powered customer research startup, three weeks after Business Insider first reported the two companies were in talks at a price of around $2 billion. Neither company disclosed financial terms.
Listen Labs was founded in 2023 by Alfred Wahlforss and Florian Juengermann, who met at Harvard while completing graduate programs in data and computer science. The company builds AI agents that find research participants, conduct audio and video interviews, analyze responses, and generate reports. Wahlforss said the platform can also simulate how customers will behave before a company commits to a decision.
The startup's recruiting network spans more than 50 million potential participants and supports interviews in more than 120 languages. Listen Labs has conducted more than one million AI-moderated interviews and counts Microsoft, Canva, Anthropic, and Sweetgreen among its customers. Salesforce said it serves 20% of the Fortune 500.
Listen Labs generates roughly $30 million in annualized revenue, a figure that has grown 15 times over the past nine months. The reported $2 billion acquisition price puts the deal at a 67x revenue multiple, a valuation one person with experience negotiating Salesforce exits described as potentially too steep.
The company raised $69 million in a Series B led by Ribbit Capital in January 2026. Sequoia Capital had led $27 million across a seed round and Series A announced in April 2025, and returned for the Series B alongside Conviction and Pear VC. TechCrunch reported in September that the Series B valued Listen Labs at $500 million. The reported $2 billion acquisition price represents a fourfold jump in eight months.
Before acquisition talks advanced, Listen Labs had signed a term sheet for a $125 million Series C at a $1.5 billion valuation, with Menlo Ventures set to lead. That round never closed. Listen Labs walked away from the signed term sheet, a move that sources described as rare and generally frowned upon in venture circles. The collapse is widely attributed to the Salesforce discussions.
Salesforce plans to integrate Listen Labs technology into Marketing Cloud and Service Cloud. The Listen Labs team, including Wahlforss and CTO Juengermann, will join Salesforce AI Labs. Aman Naimat, president of Salesforce AI Labs, said the startup's agents can uncover context behind customer and user feedback.
The deal is part of an aggressive acquisition push by Salesforce in 2026. The company agreed in June to buy customer service automation firm Fin for roughly $3.6 billion. Listen Labs would follow Fin, Informatica, and Convergence as Salesforce's fourth AI acquisition of the year. The company has also acquired Qualified.com, Regrello Corp., and Informatica as part of its broader agentic strategy.
Salesforce expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
