Aviation technology startup Navi AI announced it raised $6.7 million in funding to launch an artificial intelligence platform designed to transform pilot training. The company’s platform uses machine learning algorithms to analyze flight data and provide personalized feedback to student pilots and instructors.

CEO Nikola Kostic said the company built an aviation-specific AI that is fine-tuned to carefully selected sources and data. The platform processes databases comprising FAA materials, company-specific publications, standard operating procedures, and institutional resources along with vetted aviation sources.

The system integrates recorded flight deck audio between student pilots and instructors, air traffic control communications, and comprehensive flight data including altitude, heading, pitch, and engine temperature. Large language models and machine learning algorithms process this information to present student performance through text, maps, graphs, data, audio, and animations.

Strategic Partnerships Drive Adoption

Navi AI formed partnerships with Sling Pilot Academy and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University to deploy its technology. The Sling Pilot Academy partnership combines the flight school’s accelerated training programs with Navi AI’s platform to provide real-time feedback, personalized training analytics, and scenario-based simulations.

Matt Liknaitzky, co-founder of Sling Pilot Academy, said the partnership adds a technological layer that enhances safety and modernizes teaching methods. The AI tools support ground school instruction, real-time flight analytics, checklist management, and personalized post-flight debriefs.

At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the platform delivers AI-generated feedback to reinforce flight instructor lessons. The tool is also being tested by other flight programs and the U.S. Air Force to help instructors deliver greater learning impact.

Market Growth Drives Innovation

The pilot training market was valued at $7.4 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach $14.3 billion by 2030, growing at 11.5% annually. Boeing’s Pilot and Technician Outlook 2025-2044 forecasts the commercial aviation industry will need approximately 660,000 new pilots over the next 20 years to match fleet growth and replace retiring pilots.

AI-powered simulators can analyze trainee performance in real time, identify errors, and suggest personalized corrective exercises. The technology enables simulation of complex emergency scenarios that would be too risky or costly to replicate in actual aircraft, ensuring pilots are better prepared for unusual situations.

The AI in aviation market is projected to reach $4.86 billion by 2030 from $1.76 billion in 2025, growing at 22.6% annually. Growth is driven by increasing adoption of AI for predictive maintenance, flight operations optimization, and enhanced passenger experience.
