Quick Facts

  • Asana acquired StackAI for $75 million to strengthen AI-powered workplace automation capabilities
  • Company launched new product suite designed as operating system for human-agent teams at Work Innovation Summit in London
  • Q1 revenue hit $205.1 million, up 9.5% year-over-year, beating guidance despite stock falling from $19 to $5.38 low

Asana acquired workflow automation startup StackAI for $75 million and unveiled a new product suite designed to help organizations coordinate work between humans and AI agents. The company announced both developments Thursday alongside its earnings release.

StackAI is a no-code AI workflow platform that enables companies to design, test, deploy and govern custom AI agents. The platform connects workflows across enterprise systems including ERP, CRM and ITSM to automate processes like customer support, IT service requests and compliance workflows.

“This acquisition accelerates our roadmap and takes us into the next phase of human-agent work,” said CEO Dan Rogers in a statement. “StackAI now lets them go further, agentifying the most complex business processes end-to-end.”

The company unveiled what it calls the operating system for human-agent teams at the Work Innovation Summit in London. The product suite aims to address what Asana calls the AI productivity gap. While 75% of knowledge workers use AI on the job, only 5% of companies report meaningful productivity gains.

“Asana is the operating system for human-agent teams,” Rogers said. “We believe the real enterprise productivity unlock from AI comes when humans and agents work together across the critical workflows that run the business.”

Asana reported Q1 revenue of $205.1 million, up 9.5% year-over-year and above the top end of company guidance. The company achieved a non-GAAP operating margin of 11.5%, a 720-basis point improvement year-over-year. Net income reached $24.4 million, or $0.10 per diluted share.

The company maintains 26,100 core customers spending $5,000 or more annually, accounting for 76% of revenue. Revenue from this cohort grew 10% year-over-year. Customers spending $100,000 or more numbered 817, with cohort revenue up 12% year-over-year.

For fiscal year 2027, Asana expects revenue between $855.5 million and $863.5 million, representing 8.2% to 9.2% growth year-over-year. The guidance includes an expected 50-basis point contribution from the StackAI acquisition.

Rogers, who became CEO less than a year ago following co-founder Dustin Moskovitz’s departure, is positioning Asana as the coordination layer for human-agent collaboration at enterprise scale. The company’s stock has fallen significantly during the AI era, losing more than half its market cap since ChatGPT’s introduction.

StackAI co-founder Tony Rosinol said joining Asana enables the offering to scale. “General-purpose agents talk; specialized agents act,” Rosinol said. “We bring the cross-system workflow engine, Asana brings a company’s entire business context, memory, team workflows and governance.”
